  • What would you do if someone had a heart attack ?

  • Are you prepared to perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) ? 
  • To perform first aid ?

YOU CAN SAVE A LIFE


St Luke's Wellness Ministry offer courses for health professionals, first responders, employees, and the general public such as parents, grandparents, and anyone with no medical training based on the American Heart Association guidelines. All of the course descriptions below are directly from the American Heart Association Website.


Healthcare Professional-  Basic Life Support

The BLS Course trains participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations and provide early use of an AED.

In the Instructor-led course, students participate in simulated clinical scenarios and learning stations. Students work with an AHA BLS Instructor to complete BLS skills practice and skills testing. Students also complete a written exam.Features
  • Reflects science and education from the 2015 AHA Guidelines Update for CPR and ECC 
  • Instructor-led, hands-on class format reinforces skills proficiency 
  • Emphasis on high-quality CPR including a team dynamics classroom activity 
  • Video-based course with real world scenarios                                                                                                                                                       
It includes:
  • • High-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants
    • The AHA Chain of Survival, specifically the BLS components
    • Use of an AED
    • Effective ventilations using a barrier device
    • Importance of teams in multi-rescuer resuscitation and performance as an       effective 
    team member during multi-rescuer CPR
  • • Relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (choking) for adults and infants


The Family & Friends CPR  -  General Community

Teaches the lifesaving skills of adult Hands-Only CPR, adult CPR with breaths, child CPR with breaths, adult and child AED use, infant CPR, and mild and severe airway block for adults, children, and infants. Skills are taught in a dynamic group environment using the AHA’s research-proven practice-while-watching technique, which provides students with the most hands-on CPR practice time possible.


Family & Friends CPR is for people who want to learn CPR but do not need a CPR course completion card to meet a job requirement. This course is ideal for community groups, new parents, grandparents, babysitters, and others interested in learning how to save a life.

  • Uses AHA’s research-proven practice-while-watching technique, which improves learning and retention
  • Classroom format works well for learners who prefer group interaction and feedback while learning skills
  • Each student receives high-quality course materials for ongoing reference





Heartsaver CPR AED
Is a video-based, instructor-led course that teaches adult and child CPR and AED use, infant CPR, and how to relieve choking in adults, children, and infants. This course teaches skills with the AHA’s research-proven practice-while-watching technique, which allows instructors to observe the students, provide feedback, and guide the students’ learning of skills.
This course is for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a course completion card in CPR and AED use to meet job, regulatory, or other requirements.


Features
  • Video-based course ensures consistency 
  • Instructor-led, hands-on class format reinforces skills proficiency 
  • Course is updated with the new science from the 2015 AHA Guidelines Update for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care
  • Students learn duties and responsibilities of first aid rescuers; first aid actions for medical emergencies, including severe choking, heart attack, and stroke; and skills for handling injury and environmental emergencies, including external bleeding, broken bones and sprains, and bites and stings.

This course is for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a course completion card in first aid to meet job, regulatory, or other requirements.

COST:  All proceeds, after AHA administrative costs for books and card (when
               applicable), will benefit St Luke's church

              The good will donation, plus administrative costs for:


   
    Health care professional- BLS                              $   95

    Family & Friends CPR  -  General Community    $   30
    Heartsaver CPR AED                                             $   95 


CPR learners will need to purchase a face mask on their own or from St Luke's Wellness Ministry
