Acolytes
An acolyte is a lay person who is a member of the congregation. He or she assists the priest and sub-deacon with the Sunday mass and other church services as able. They are chosen by the priest for their service to the church and eagerness to serve God. Once they have experience helping on the altar they could become lay readers.
Adult acolytes are at least 18 years of age. Youth acolytes must be at least 10 years age.
