Girls' Friendly Society
The Girls' Friendly Society of the United States of America is an international, not-for-profit Organization for girls and young women. St. Luke's branch is open to girls of any Race, religion, or nationality between the ages of 5 and 21. They meet the first and third Sundays after church from 12:30 - 2:00 pm in the Parish Hall.
The focus of this group is to provide a support system aimed at developing the whole person through a program of worship, service to others, study, and recreation designed to empower girls and to help them grow mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually.
Girls are expected to actively participate in GFS activities including worship and service. Girls will learn the GFS prayer and GFS motto, "bear ye one another's burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ." (Galatians 6.2)
During the course of the year, discussions focus on monthly themes such as: Women’s History Month, Cinco de Mayo, Poetry Month,Black History Month Asian Pacific American Heritage Month etc. Quizzes and word search activities will be incorporated.

The St. Luke's branch of The Girls' Friendly Society of the United States of America is coordinated by volunteers who are members of the congregation.

- Care Packages: Children will prepare packages for distribution to the less fortunate teens.
- Library Visits: Children will be able to check out books;
- Participate in Summer activities (free – e.g. movies; arts and crafts)
- Visit places of interests in and around Philadelphia : e.g. Independence Hall etc.
- Around the World: Members will learn about the history and culture of different countries with a focus on GFS countries. They will map it,
will wear their traditional attire if they so desire.
- GFS T-SHIRTS- Design to be drawn/painted on the GFS original t-shirts.
- Etiquette: Youth etiquette
- Culinary Arts: Children will learn how to prepare simple recipes. Theory/practical
- Managing Your Money: Teaching kids how to save their money
- Book club: Children will read books and discuss as a group
- Learning a Foreign Language (French)
- Harvest: There will be a procession of the children to the altar where they will present and lay their crops. Then they will do an acrostic poetry using the word ‘ HARVEST’
- Christmas: Children will put on a skit as a fundraising activity;
